The only time I've heard the use of the word antepenultimate is in a musical context - to describe the third bar from the end. Does any other field use it?

I've just bought myself a new Android tablet to sing from. As I get older and my eyesight diminishes I need to get a bigger and bigger sized screen. Hopefully my new 14 inch one will last me a while.

In my youth I would go on singing weeks in cathedrals. As choristers we would pepper the organist with themes for the Gospel fanfare. We had "Ferry 'cross the Mersey" for the Bishop of Liverpool, and "I'm a Barbie Girl" for the Dean of Lincoln.

It's the general synod of the Church of Ireland on Thursday to Saturday this week. As one of the alternate (reserve) Lay Representatives of my parish, I just need the other Lay Reps to stay healthy for the next few days, or I might be making a last minute dash to Co. Down!

Depping at Christ Church Cathedral for Spy Wednesday evensong. Easy service. Plainsong canticles, psalm 88, and Palestrina Sicut Cervus. No rehearsal, just straight in and sight read it. Was quite fun.

Today is Passion Sunday, which marks the beginning of Passiontide. Over these final two weeks of Lent, the Church turns its attention more intensely to the Passion of Christ. At St Edmundsbury, we follow the old tradition of veiling our crosses and images of Christ in purple during this time.
