Completely true - the poll in the 2028 proposal would not constrain the NPC at all. The only reason to oppose it is fear of being held accountable for going against the will of the membership.

We have tens of thousands of new members. It’s really hard to describe to them or anyone who isn’t in the handful of sickos following all the internal minutia why this decision was made and just how hard it is to work with the governing tendencies of this organization in good faith.

Thoughts on the POTUS Process Debate for DSAers. If NPC removes the mass membership poll, it would be a direct violation of R33 ‘in which Convention mandated us to hold a ‘national referendum’ on the potential endorsement of a candidate for POTUS. This is cut-and-dry.

I was looking forward to the vote on whether DSA decides to campaign AOC for president and I would hope others would too but it seems like a majority of DSA’s National Political Committee are deciding to contradict the convention which elected them and deny us a process of deliberation
