As it stands this is a crushing defeat for Trump. Iran got everything it wanted. The US ends up with a worse deal than Obama had, which Trump tore up, and it cost billions and lives to get there.

If a deeply hobbled, defeated Iranian military can control the Strait of Hormuz with the threat of missiles and drones, how exactly do we plan to control Kharg Island which is even more easy to disable? And even if we control the Island how does that help if the Strait is not open for transit?

Who knows what drives the global oil markets, but Trump restarts bombing and makes detailed announcements of intent to invade Iran, and oil prices go ... down. Does this mean the markets think that he's bullshitting, or that he's telling the truth and we will have a quick and easy victory?

There's value in this line of thinking. Someone has convinced Trump that AI needs to be taxed so that the benefits are shared rather than taken from the working class and handed to the billionaires. Don't take ownership. Take revenue -- tax them hard.

This generally refers to asset seizures and immigration / deportation activity. I have no idea what the Secretary of Defense (WAR!!!) has to do with any of it.

There is nothing about capitalism that says we cede moral agency. We are making a choice when we do business with Elon Musk: when we buy his products, let him into our government to use our tax dollars, post on his platform. We enable him.

It is astounding that gas prices aren't higher. Maybe it's a version of the Musk meme stock effect. There are so many petroleum traders that are Trumpy that they are gaming the market.

This is gratifying. Too often it is difficult to discern boos from cheers, but this is crystal clear.
