Back home for the first time in 10 days. Bags unpacked, laundry going, did a Costco run so I have food for tomorrow and got myself a giant bowl of pho for dinner. My lips are tingling. So glad to be home!

We had a great fundraiser today! I was freezing bc I have Southern blood, but it was a gorgeous fall day at the Clamfest! If anyone would like to support our scholarship fund, we give out a yearly $3500 award to a student from my hometown who will be in a field that will impact the life of a child.

I just got to call a 1st year college student (studying nursing) and tell her that she was chosen as the recipient of my sister’s memorial scholarship this year for $3500. I’m going to be riding this high for a while. She’s one of 6 kids in a single income family. I’m so happy we chose her!

Today and tomorrow are Tulane fall break, so I don’t have to teach tonight. Using the time to listen to an audiobook (and keep an eye on the Red Sox game) and put my Halloween decorations up. I’m so pleased.

Made a grilled veg pasta salad from @foodandwine.com and holy moly is it awesome!! I added some Romano cheese but otherwise followed the recipe. It’s a keeper!

I am teaching 4 classes this semester 3 nights a week (on top of full time work and waitressing on the weekends). My brain is OVERLOADED. I also need to study for a board exam coming at end of October, but by the time I’m done teaching at night my brain is Swiss cheese. 😩I need to say no more often.

Had an impromptu dinner with a friend tonight after lunch with another friend yesterday. Would have said no, as I also have dinner plans tomorrow night, but life is short and people won’t be around forever. As tiring as it can be sometimes, I try not to take a full social calendar for granted. ❤️

Today was better than expected. My hard day was yesterday, unexpectedly. Went to the gym after work today then made lobster ravioli with zucchini roasted slow so it melted down, sweet corn, mascarpone cheese, fresh basil, & Parmesan cheese. Today is almost over, y’all. Worked tonight waitressing. Had the forethought to change my bedsheets today. I’m already home and showered and have eaten dinner and I can’t tell you how pleased I am about fresh sheets on my bed!!

Was doing chest flies laying down with 15 lb dumbbells (30 lbs total) and went to go rock myself up to sitting and def didn’t account for the extra 30 lbs, promptly fell back over. There was someone else in the gym with me who saw me rolling up and right back down like an armadillo in my shell. lol.

Ok, I cleaned out my cookbooks. I’m bringing 20 cookbooks to the cookbook swap tonight at Miel brewery, please come and take them! The event is 5-8. I have to teach at 7:45 so planning to be there around 6ish. The amount of counter space I just freed up makes me happy.

Someone on here asked how do you explain Mardi Gras to someone who has never heard of it. My favorite part of riding or even just being on the parade route is seeing the joy and happiness on people's faces. To hand them a trinket they really wanted and see them light up.

My last trip to DC in July was awesome! #everyonewatcheswomenssports we got to watch the US Women’s Rugby team play Fiji, and the atmosphere was amazing. We walked to the stadium after brunch, had awesome food during our visit, and went to a protest Friday night. He needs to get a grip. #dc

I’m going to lose my mind. My dog (my sweet, unassuming dog who everyone loves who is a secret assassin) has killed 2 adult and 6 baby possums in the span of a week. I don’t exactly know how they are getting in my backyard, but I really hate playing this dead possum scavenger hunt game.

Just heard that Nola Gold Rugby will not have a 2026 season! I’m so sad to hear that! As a former rugby player, I loved having a team here and going to the games. #nolasky #rugby

No power= no internet = no work = unexpected porch reading time listening to the rain falling from the trees!! Not a terrible way to spend a power outage.

Well, vacuuming the house was the plan for this evening. Was waylaid by discovering a dead mama possum (likely at the hands of my natural born killer dog and her idiot sidekick) and her 5 dead babies in my back and front yards. The dogs are quite pleased with themselves. I am less so. Haha.
