I wanna see more classroom teachers delivering keynotes, facilitating workshops, and given space and larger platforms to talk about whatās working/not working with students in this moment. Too many educator conferences, not nearly enough current teacher voices and experiences.

This is the literal destruction of knowledge. Mississippi libraries are being ordered to remove academic research on race and gender from library databases.

AERA has just learned that all restricted-use NCES data licenses will be cancelled, possibly as early as March 20. We urgently request that all AERA members and others in the research community with restricted-use licenses take these two actions:

I'm super excited to share this short brief on who has power over the Department of Education, what the ED Sec can do, and what Executive Orders can do. There's a lot of info (and links!) packed into one place. I hope it's helpful. Please share.

This is why they're attacking science and education: if you can only win with disinformation, data become a threat.

Worried about losing access to US federal data that may go off-line, or already is? Youāre not aloneābut duplication isnāt the answer. Many ongoing efforts have already archived key datasets and many more are ongoing. Check out these existing resources and, if you can, support their work. š§µ

I know the education EO is scary to read. But EOs do NOT create law. The way to fight back right now is to not over-comply. If your schools start following this, push back.

I can't decide which would be a worse outcome here. That research is cut off permanently. Or that the administration uses the pause to implement new restrictions on science to the point where the only "research" researchers can do and publish is research supporting administration-approved "facts."

One of the best things you can do right now is read books. Buy them. Borrow them from the library. Gift them. Read history. Read fiction. Read science writing. Read anything that shows you the world is bigger than what fascists say it is. Read to remember why your resistance matters. šš

I am going to say something radically optimistic: The ONLY way we get through this is by countering individualism with enduring community. And I believe that most people want to be in communities that care for each other.

If you want to know if a study provides valid evidence of whether a policy or practice has a causal impact on outcomes, look for: 1) a control or comparison group 2) control for pretest 3) independent outcome measures
