With any large scale tech debt project there are three things needed to succeed: 1. Commendation - Anyone who works on this is incentivized, recognized, and rewarded. 2. Capacity - Teams have dedicated resources to making this happen. 3. Capability - Tools, resources, and knowledge exist

The more I work with Ruby the more I am inclined to turn off autoloading and explicitly require things. Really, the more I'm inclined in general to be explicit about things. What is simple in the early days becomes a tax of trying to trace down what and where something is.

Rubyfmt 0.12 is out! This release is a big deal. We entirely removed ripper and replaced it with Prism. This means Rubyfmt no longer needs to compile against Ruby at all. This work wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of Reese, and as a bonus treat we now have: rubyfmt.run

Sounds like Ruby is going 4.0 for Christmas this year. Wonder what the final breaking change was that got it over the line for a major bump. Coincidentally it's also the 30th anniversary of Ruby.
