And so says anyone managing young people in state schools. Parenting is something you have to learn….from your own competent parents or from state help. Getting a good start is not a given.

This blog post is really very beautiful because the pragmatics are an expression of deep respect for the smaller humans we are responsible for but aren't better than.

I absolutely do have favourite mugs, but I find myself carefully ensuring I drink out of each mug I own in rotation so they don't find out which are the favourites, because I don't want to hurt their feelings. I am nearly 50 years old. I am aware mugs are not sentient. And yet.
