Got nothing in my brain
Going to be in London for a full day and evening next week when it's 31c and I am not looking forward to it.

Listening to some old Carl Sagan interviews. They don't cheer me up like they used to. I think because his predictions about the dumbing down of everything has 100% come true.

Just heard lots of shouting and stuff outside. I presume it's coming home again.

Everyone has gone home. There's only two of us left who are trekkies. I'm going to ask to leave early the day the new episode of Strange New Worlds is released.

Fuck this. It has never been more important to own your own shit (Sony literally just wiped 500+ digital movies people BOUGHT last week) and killing physical media is a blatant attempt to ensure we can't and reducing purchases to little more than a rental that can be wiped at a moment's notice.
add a skeleton here at some point

I can't see myself getting a playstation 6 if sony insist they're the only people I can buy games from and I'm not able to buy a physical game anymore.

Lots of people in early today so they can finish early. I think there's a sporting event on later.

Have planned out a nice shortish route tomorrow from Godstow, down the thames, off castle mill stream at the bottom of port meadow and then back up the thames.

Off to see Supergirl at 9am. Hopefully all the noisy, screaming little shits are still in bed so I can watch it in peace. I long since stopped taking notice of reviews of things, especially if the main character is a woman.

Kayaking on the thames with currents/wind is a lot harder than small rivers/canals. I think the heat didn't help yesterday either.

Trying to suggest a replacement phone for someone and every fucking handset now has AI in the title. I see the word and I know it's just going to be bloated crap that the person won't use.

Doing a She-ra binge again. Since the excellent Masters of the universe film didn't do well its unlikely we're getting live action Force Captain Adora and I'm annoyed.

Britain is more than halfway towards reaching Net Zero. Most people don't realise this, not least as the fossil-fuel fanatics want us to think achieving it is impossible. Via YouGov

I have to say, it's making me feel a little insane hearing commentators say Ed Miliband shouldn't be chancellor because of his "ideological zeal" for Net Zero, in a week where temperatures are so extreme that my kids are being sent home early every day and it's regularly 30 degrees inside my house

Just had a walk around the garden and checking that Bob is ok. It's really unpleasant. There's a breeze but even that feels too warm.

Amazing all the politicians have suddenly realised people can't work when it's too hot. Wonder what triggered that sudden realisation?

Going to invoke the potential ire of "the bond market" to dissuade people from doing stuff I don't like irl

Fully expect once Burnham is in post for a while, there'll be some new kind of PFI nonsense gets used for investing in the infrastructure but keeps it off the government ledger to not upset the bond market.

The food waste bin was knocked over last night and moldy crap was all over the drive. Bob doesn't seem to be fussed about his breakfast this morning so hope he's happy the little trash panda he is.

I think my house does seem to resist the heat better since the cavity wall insulation was done. It's still grim when the weather is like this but it seems to not retain the heat as much in the evening.

The Sky News helicopter is currently following Andy Burnham's train all the way down to London. Unclear what exactly they expect to happen en route

With Streeting not throwing his hat in the ring does this mean Burnham goes straight in? I know it's our system and we don't have a president but it just feels off to me.

Trying to find the full starmer resignation speech on the bbc site is impossible. You can have 60 seconds of it that they've chosen to show you and lots of gobshite opinions. It's the same on the Sky news site. I think they think their voices and opinions are more important than the story

Since my friends are feeble weaklings and we didn't go far, I'm tempted to to a 10 mile round trip to abingdon and back tomorrow in the kayak. Will see what sort of mood I'm in tomorrow morning when I wake up.
