I must admit that there are a lot of things I can do that I would swap being able to do to have the skills to fix my bike properly. I want to be able to do something and not finish with “yeah, it’s not perfect, but it’ll do” or, worse, “b***ocks! I’ll ring the bike shop and get it booked in”

I knew it! Yesterday I had a head-wind on the way home which is a rookie mistake, but according to the forecast it was only meant to be about 10km/hr. I could see the trees and bushes being bent by the wind and couldn’t hear anything! That’s not 10km/hr 20km of horrible-ness!

Got some new waterproof overshoes - Spatzwear Aquasokz and my goodness, but they’re hard to put on! Of course they’re meant to form a tight seal around your calf, but I couldn’t even get my foot in them. Going to have to get some talc and hope they stretch slightly!

Gave the Galaxy a clean today and I have to say that Halfords Citrus degreaser really does clean up the cassette nicely - I gave the bike a first rinse, sprayed degreaser liberally over the cassette, gave it a few minutes and then gave it a good going over with a stiff brush. Voila! All shiny!
