I think this was around the time the arcade cabinet lost connection to the network... These machines don't run if they can't connect to the SEGA network. They are also locked to an IP address and SEGA Japan had to whitelist the IP when the cabinets moved to the stream room or else no showcase.

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

When I moved to video 7 years ago I made it a point to try to continually act like nobody's visibly watching. I always try to narrate what I'm doing or seeing, or if I'm reacting to chat, I always try to read the chat comment first instead of just saying my response. Don't always succeed, but I try.

My mods banned the guy, but I had to silently give props to "your eyes are more separated than my parents." (I still have a lazy eye sometimes and when I get too relaxed it shows up on camera. We had surgery to correct it when I was 18 months old and it didn't completely work.)
