Been bouncing between a few portfolio projects. Here I'm working on a more stylized background design. Finished up the daytime version, have a few variants in progress.

Been a bit quiet on here recently, have been focused on learning Blender to help with visual development ideas. Had fun with this little fox character and environment. Imagining it could be for a game of some sort. Next to learn a bit of rigging to help with posing, haha.

I took Ryan Magno's Background Painting for Animation course at @warriorartcamp.bsky.social last year. Had so much fun in the course, Ryan is a great teacher. Designed this background exploring an establishing shot for an imagined show. Inspired by my trip to NYC last year.

#PleinAirpril Day 30. Berkeley botanical gardens. This composition was rather challenging, but I liked the dappled light. Was fun to try and capture. That's a wrap! Really glad I participated this time. Felt like it got me out of an art slump. Looking forward to what's might be next!

#PleinAirpril Day 20. A little neighborhood cottage. Walk past this house each day. Stood out this morning on our walk before the storm came in.

#PleinAirpril Day 19. Neighborhood mailbox. Was very overcast this morning, really liked the way this mailbox was lit. Thought it'd be a fun subject to paint.

#PleinAirpril Day 18. Oliver the cat. Randomly changed my walk pattern in the neighborhood a few years ago and stumbled across this cat. Sits in his little bed in the window and watches the street. I now walk past his window every day hoping to catch a glimpse. Was blessed this morning!

#PleinAirpril Day 17. Ice cream truck. Walk past this ice cream truck frequently, but still haven't had a chance to try it. Have been wanting to paint it for a while too. Liked the backlit view of it as I walked by this morning.

#PleinAirpril Day 15. Overcast morning. On my frequent pup walks I've discovered there are a fair number of these tower like houses in the neighborhood. Rather enjoy them, like mini castles.

#PleinAirpril Day 06. Thought the lighting this morning on my walk was really interesting. My neighborhood was still in shadow from the marine layer, but across the bay everything was in sun. Liked seeing that contrast between muted colors in the shadow, vs those more intense blues in the water.
