As we enter June this year, the Supreme Court has yet to issue opinions in 23 cases. The future of campaign finance law, the definition of “Election Day” and the fate of birthright citizenship hang in the balance.

For democracy, June is the cruelest month
In recent years, June has been the time when the high court delivers its most devastating blows against individual rights and the rule of law.

Ishemic stroke and heart attack in May. Trapped in terrible RehabCenter for 18 days. Lost my partner of 34 years in November. Moved back to Florida. Complex PTSD. Starting to pick up pieces and rehabs. Of course the current political backdrop is not a positive.

CPTSD is like someone in your ear, 24/7, listing all the ways you suck, & anyone who says you don't suck doesn't "really" know you, & you may as well not try to not suck, because you just SUCK so much. And they don't shut up & they don't get tired & they don't stray off message.

You don't owe anyone an explanation or apology today for what you like, what you want, or who you are. Remember there is power in leaning into what makes you, you. Remember & reconnect to what turns you on-- for real, not what "should" light you up according to "them."

Journaling can be a powerful recovery tool, but it's common for survivors to struggle w/ it, especially if you're new to it. You need to know up front there's no "wrong" way to do it. Just start w/ writing "I don't know how to do this," & kind of ramble. Do a "brain dump."

Mornings can be rough for trauma survivors, especially if we struggle w/ sleep. They often lead us into work days where our nervous system expects to feel trapped, controlled, &/or in trouble. Crafting a recovery supporting morning routine can be an underrated recovery priority.

You get to choose to whom & why you reveal anything about your diagnosis, wounds, or recovery to anybody else-- & but also, none of it has to be a deep dark secret. There is nothing shameful about trauma, addiction, or recovery. Working a recovery is something to be proud of.

We can acknowledge how utterly painful, traumatic, or wrong something was-- while utterly refusing to buy into the story that our trauma conditioning is trying to tell us about how we "have" to hurt, sabotage, or kill ourselves as a result.

Jong-Fast: This would be the largest cut to food assistance in US history—and it will result in hungry kids. It’s also important to mention that this bill grows the deficit. I don’t know how it manages to do the two things you absolutely don’t want—starve children and grow the deficit—but it does.
