The Trump Administration’s cuts to lifesaving research and healthcare are putting us all at greater risk for disease. On April 8, workers are coming together across the country to demand that lawmakers Kill the Cuts. Here are three of their stories.

Proposed cuts to state & federal funding could gouge a multi-billion dollar hole in UC’s budget — cuts that would stall or end lifesaving research, medical care, and education. Hear from UC workers what’s at stake and why they’re helping build a national day of action on April 8.

UAW 4811 members across the state joined nationwide rallies against Trump’s proposed cuts to public education and research. These cuts would devastate communities around the country, and academic workers will keep fighting until they’re halted and rolled back.

Last week, members of Local 872, @uaw2478.bsky.social, and @uaw4811.bsky.social helped pass a strong moratorium on evictions for those affected by the LA fires, overcoming landlord opposition. This win is critical step towards an equitable recovery for those impacted by the fires.

The Trump administration is continuing its attempts to circumvent multiple court orders that it unfreeze NIH grants. In response, academic workers are organizing to restore research funding and making sure the public knows how these cuts could affect public research. Here are some of their stories:

This morning, UAW 4811 supported the CA Attorney General's urgent lawsuit against the Trump administration for its extreme cuts to federal research funding. A judge has now granted a temporary restraining order, putting a temporary halt on the new policy.

This is what amounts to an ILLEGAL & indiscriminate funding cut for research centers everywhere. It will mean shuttering labs across the country, layoffs in red & blue states, and derailing lifesaving research on everything from cancer to opioid addiction. We all need to speak out to save lives.
