The pay review body’s 3.5% pay ‘uplift’ is hugely disappointing for SAS and Consultants whose value and pay have been eroded for years. Senior doctors are standing together to push this Government to commit to improvements. On the 11 May we will open ballots for Industrial Action in England.

Great to speak at the London SAS Conference with Specialty, Associate Specialist and Specialist doctors from across London. SAS doctors are the backbone of the NHS, delivering expert care every day, often without the recognition they deserve. Thank you for all you do.

SAS are often told they are "just for service". Nothing wrong with "service", thats why we all became doctors. But
@drrosena.bsky.social
shows a SAS career can have so much more potential. Leadership, QI, research, education or even being an MP!!

There aren't enough postgraduate training numbers for doctors in the NHS. Most departments have gaps requiring doctors. There are doctors in need of jobs. The solution to these issues are the two SAS contracts. They provide permanence, and an alternative career pathway for doctors.
