I don't think we'll ever get another sentence which sums up everything the New York Times embodies quite like "Some legal experts have called it a crime to summarily kill civilians".

Remember the Russia Report, which Boris Johnson held back until he'd won his election? At the press announcement when it was finally published, we were told that British security services hadn't looked into Russian interference in the 2016 referendum because they hadn't been asked to.

Yes! Stephen Miller is our *actual* president, and NOBODY voted for him. Not a single person. This should piss you off regardless of where you stand politically. He attached himself to Trump b/c Trump is easily led, not out of any sort of loyalty or shared beliefs.

This is an illustration as to why it always grates when footballers are labelled as spoilt, rich, disloyal etc. The game is ruthless, the living fragile, and there should be no blanket blame attached to young people who accpet what other older, richer people are prepared to pay them.

There’s been a realignment. The Labour voting base is simply different to its historic form. It just seems completely bonkers not to seem to understand this. And even more bonkers to pursue policies that are going to make the key problem - losses to the LDs, Greens - EVEN WORSE!

I’ve now read this excellent piece and am even more baffled by Labour’s strategy. Not only have a very large amount of the currently lost voters not gone to Reform, they are highly unlikely to go to Reform in the future! Furthermore, previously lost voters to Reform etc (pre 2025) are long gone.

The AfD qualified for three mayoral run-offs in cities in North Rhine-Westphalia today, and lost all by big margins. The lesson is not that we have overdone the AfD's rise, but that we do perhaps sometimes underestimate the counter-mobilisation effects - including in east Germany, incidentally.

It's racist in effect, because the EU secures EU settled status by its ability to suspend the EU-UK trade agreement in total or in part. Farage has apparently balked at that. There's no powerful institution to protect leave to remain for other nationals, bar the ECHR, which Farage wants to leave.
