At day 36, today marks the longest government shutdown in history. ACA health care premiums are doubling and our most vulnerable are going hungry without SNAP benefits. Speaker Johnson and Republicans need to come to the negotiating table and end the shutdown now.

ACA open enrollment began today and health insurance premiums will rise 114%. 32 days into the government shutdown and 43 days since Republicans were last working in Washington. Republicans’ refusal to negotiate will cause millions of Americans to lose their health coverage.

Speaker Johnson has dismissed the expiring ACA subsidies as a “Dec. 31 issue,” and for 10 months he’s refused to act, despite Democrats demanding that he protect Americans’ coverage.

The Trump Administration has the power to fund SNAP in November, but is refusing to use it, choosing instead to starve seniors, veterans, and children. I proudly joined my New York colleagues in urging USDA to exercise its legal authority and ensure SNAP benefits are funded.

Yesterday I joined the MTA in announcing the completion of the upgraded Grand Central–42nd St station. New elevators, wider passageways, and improved circulation will deliver the kind of modern, inclusive transit system our city deserves.

On Friday I toured the Vanderbilt YMCA located in the heart of NY-12 to learn more about their community programming and initiatives. The highlight of my visit, though, was reading “The Gruffalo” to the Pre-K class!

CMS is proposing over $1 billion in Medicare home health cuts next year, jeopardizing care for homebound seniors and undermining the system Congress intended. CMS must halt these cuts and uphold a payment system that keeps seniors safe and independent at home.

November SNAP benefits for over 3 million New Yorkers are at risk because of the Republican shutdown. Republicans are threatening to starve low-income Americans for their own political gain.

One month after her Election Day and Rep.-elect @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social still hasn’t been sworn in. All because Speaker Johnson would rather have AZ-07 constituents go without a representative in Congress than for Americans to know what’s in the Epstein files.

As I previously said, the Trump Administration’s actions in the Caribbean Sea are illegal and unconstitutional. Today’s military assault off of the coast of Venezuela is just the next in a series of criminal acts committed by President Trump and Secretary Hegseth.

The government has been shutdown for two full weeks. Federal workers are still working and have started to miss paychecks. Meanwhile, Speaker Johnson and House Republicans are continuing their 4-week long vacation.

My statement on the two-year anniversary of October 7th:

Americans want it, but Congressional Republicans and Donald Trump don’t. Why? So Trump can continue his vendetta campaign across the country by withholding already approved funds for critical infrastructure and energy projects and firing thousands of hard working Americans from their jobs.

After months of bad-faith attacks on the MTA’s safety, the Trump Administration has slashed tens of millions in transit-security funding for the agency. Much of that money was slated for the NYPD, so the Administration is effectively defunding the police.

The Trump Administration is shamefully freezing funding for two of the most critical infrastructure projects in the nation because Democrats refused to rubber-stamp a plan that does nothing to stop Americans’ health insurance premiums from doubling. These aren’t just local transportation projects.

The government shuts down at midnight because Republicans didn’t do their homework on time. Republicans control the House and Senate -- they were in charge of finishing all appropriations bills by midnight, but they didn’t.

The President is prosecuting his “political enemies” and his retaliation knows no bounds. He has turned the Department of Justice into his personal weapon. The American people see this for what it is - a dangerous abuse of power that will ultimately fail. Justice may be blind but she is not dumb.

It was an honor to celebrate the Nobel Laureates whose names will be inscribed on the Nobel Monument in Theodore Roosevelt Park. May all who visit the monument reflect on these laureates' profound impact on society and the world.

If the government shuts down next week, Trump and Republicans own it. They will be the cause of millions of Americans losing health care coverage, millions more crushed with rising premiums, and countless civil servants living in fear of losing their jobs.

I could not in good conscience vote for the GOP Continuing Resolution, which leave tens of millions of Americans facing higher costs and lost coverage. Democrats put forward a plan to extend ACA tax credits and repeal Medicaid cuts. Republicans refused to even negotiate.

When I went to 26 Federal Plaza to exercise my congressional right to conduct oversight, ICE blocked me from entering. They don’t want the public to see just how inhumane and neglectful the conditions inside truly are.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr forced ABC to bow to Trump and punish Jimmy Kimmel. He must answer for his actions and resign immediately. Trump and the Republican Party are now the party of censorship. The American people will remember who stood on the side of free speech.

This kind of divisive rhetoric is beneath the dignity of the office of the Vice President of the United States. The Vice President’s claim also isn’t backed by evidence. In fact, most data points in the opposite direction.

Trump and RFK Jr. have cut hundreds of millions of dollars in cancer research. Our country has been the global leader of cancer research for 50 years, and that will come to an end because of this Administration. These cuts will cost lives. So much for “Make America Healthy Again”

Yesterday was the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. For almost 24 years, responders, survivors, doctors, and advocates met monthly to advise on 9/11 health issues.

For New Yorkers, 9/11 is a tragedy we carry in our hearts every single day. On the 24th anniversary we feel it deeply. We will never forgot the horrors of 9/11 and today especially we remember the heroes.

Political violence is horrific and has no home in our country. Full stop.

I stand with Amazon Teamsters as they rally in Queens today to hold Amazon accountable for its unlawful anti-union activity. The overwhelming majority of drivers at Amazon's DBK4 facility in Maspeth voted to unionize. Amazon responded by cutting their delivery routes.
