This good looking bird is an American Woodcock, or you may know it as one of their many names: Timberdoodle, Bogsucker or Labrador Twister. No matter the name, this bird just demands attention. Woodcocks spend most of their time on the ground in brushy, forest like habitats, looking for delicious bugs in the soft ground. They are known for their esquisite dancing skills that help them locate where their next meal might be found. Woodcocks fly south for the winter, so we tend to see a few each year while they are passing through during migration. This fancy fella unfortunately hit a window while flying and fractured his scapula.
