Art is a human expression conceived to express our unique experiences on multiple levels, from obvious to almost unfathomable. Involving GenAI at any point of that process waters down the process, the art, and contaminates not only the product, but your very way of telling stories.

This week is my three month anniversary since starting strength training at the gym 🥳 well…minus a month for some minor surgery then a holiday abroad 😅 I’m not sure about ‘progress’ or ‘gains’ physically, but I definitely have those in my wellbeing ☺️ (except for when I’m doing hack squats).

All these GenAI things have something in common—art, stories, music, video clips—they make you feel NOTHING. The only reason we’re plagued by them is the people making them are excitedly spewing them out because the process gives them a thrill. A quiet echo of what it’s like to truly create.

Commissioning an artist, doesn’t make you an artist. You did however collaborate with a talented professional to create unique work. Using Gen-AI doesn’t make you a writer or a collaborator. It means you’re growing toxic slop from stolen cuttings. Art is about connection. It requires a soul.

I too am a visual thinker and have chronic health conditions that limit my ability to write. I do not however use genAI to write, because I’m actually a writer and author and not an unimaginative theiving hack, and I actually aspire to continue to learn and grow. You do you though, I guess.
