I have a really clear memory of being six and driving down the freeway with my dad and saying “I reckon I can run this fast” and him, weirdly annoyed, saying “no you can’t”. I always wondered why that pissed him off so much but now that I have a six year old I get it. I get it, Dad.

One of the interesting things about animated kids tv now is that I guess animating large numbers of people is expensive so they all take place in these towns full of lovely buildings but with haunting, empty streets and like six residents, giving the whole thing a post apocalyptic feel.

I used to scoff at scenes where someone is trying to explain something scientific and they pick up objects from the desk as props, but now that I am writing a scene were such an explanation is required...the temptation to go 'this-stapler-here?This-stapler-is-the-sun-mode' is almost unbearable.

Apparently season 2 of The Pitt is going to be 15 hours in the life of Doug Driscoll??? Just him getting into altercations with various frontline workers and an entire episode where he's asleep??? Don't see how that'll work but here's hoping!

Thinking about this some more, Harold Lauder in The Stand was a really prescient rendering of a Certain Type of Guy who is now pretty much everywhere.

I don’t think Stephen King gets enough credit for being able to write incredibly nasty pricks really well. Horror and spooky stuff aside, he just writes a really loathsome type of person perfectly.

It’s unsettling to be living through an event with the bone deep certainty that it’s going to be patronisingly explained to you by Judd Apatow in five to six years.

My six year old has started saying Skibidi and all I can do in response is make that sort of Hank Hill noise he does when Bobby does something unsettling.

I saw a review of The Pitt that said the problem with it is that it straddles procedural and prestige TV. Wrong!!! That’s why it rules!!! It’s a lot better than a network medical drama BUT I never have to worry that there’ll be a departure episode from the perspective of a stethoscope or whatever.

How wrong he was. Then, how tragically right.

I believe I would bring some much needed levity and humour to The Pitt with my various antics.
