Fondly looking back on my time in Stehekin, Washington; a remote town cut off from the road network and mainly accessed by passenger ferry along the 55-mile long Lake Chelan.

Headed home from a great visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park. It’s an underrated Park. Not too crowded, but very beautiful and diverse scenery.

Really happy with how this one turned out. US 183 points northward straighter than an arrow as it crosses from Pawnee County into Rush County amongst the treeless Kansas prairie. (Taken while standing in the highway, not driving)

Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America, at 282 feet below sea level. It is only 86 miles from Mount Whitney, highest point in the contiguous United States.

Had a great 7.5 mile hike today on the Golden Canyon Trail in Death Valley National Park.

The only news organization that seems to want to cover a 38+ (and ongoing) power outage affecting over 5,000 people in central DC is the Washington Blade: www.washingtonblade.com/2025/02/22/p...

For the last 36 hours, a swath of central DC including most of the #WestEnd and southwest #DupontCircle have had no power. Pepco does not have a restoration estimate, except that it will *not* be tonight. This includes virtually all of my ANC district. Days without power and no end in sight.

22 minutes to bike from my apartment to the airport. That’s faster than the Metro (which wasn’t an option anyway, due to track work). Normally, Metro would take me about 30 min (walk + train). So glad I live in a place where this is an option.

I was listening to Atlanta radio yesterday and the evening traffic report told of a crash on (I-)575 north of Hwy 92 and suggested drivers use “Highway 5” as an alternate. The thing is, Hwy 5 has been coterminous with I-575 since 1985!

I'm happy to share the Montgomery County Accessible Design Guide, which I have been working on for over 2 years. This first-of-its-kind Guide was only possible thanks to the tireless work of County residents and advocates, and I hope it inspires other jurisdictions to be more accessible!

Took my first commute today on the Red Line post return to ATO and increased speeds (top speed increased from 59 to 75). My Dupont -> Rockville trip previously took 29 minutes, and today it only tool 25 minutes. That's a savings of 4 minutes (13.7%). Seems small, but it will add up! #WMATA

Kind of irritated that the Georgia - #GeorgiaTech game is on a *Friday* this year. I always watch the game, but will be traveling this year on Friday, DURING the game. The game is ALWAYS on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In 117 matchups, it's been on Sat. all but 5 times, most recently in 1995

On this Veterans Day, I’m thinking about my grandfather. I wish I could’ve known him. The stories he could’ve told. He circumnavigated the globe and stepped foot on 5 continents.

We ask everyone outside of the car to be safe so that drivers can be dangerous.

Car traffic isn't always there, but the scars left on our cities by the supporting infrastructure creates barriers to people trying to exist in urban environments.

Today marks the anniversary of the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald in a severe storm on Lake Superior on Nov 10, 1975 with the loss of all 29 crewmembers. Below is a picture I took in 2022 of the SS Edwin Gott sailing under the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth, MN, as the Fitz did on Nov 9, 1975.

Just biked to the airport (DCA) in about the same amount of time it would’ve taken to ride the Metro. There aren’t many cities where that’s possible. I love DC!

Was just listening to radio in the Atlanta market, and a business advertised its location as "on *the* 515 in Jasper." Guys. This is Georgia, not Los Angeles. And GA 515 is not even a freeway, which Pickens County has precisely none of. Get with the program.
