I scored a Commemorative G1 Red Alert at #tfconla, and the black head really wasn’t doing it for me. Just looks like Sideswipe in uniform. So I ordered a junker G2 Sideswipe off ebay to swap in a red head and make my ideal look for him! Now *that’s* my boy.

As @thattoyguy.bsky.social mentioned in his review, I chipped off the nose paint on SS Devastation Bumblebee. So after an exchange I wanted to protect the new copy from the same problem. It’s another mod thread, folks!

So, bummer news The filament I used for Samus’s beam cannon is hard to find now. I found one seller, and it was expensive, but they reached out and said, “we’re so sorry, but our remaining stock has been crushed.” So now I may need to pay double somewhere to continue this project.

My first Metroid game was Prime 2: Echoes, in grade school. I did not get very far bc the game terrified me. Now as a seasoned Metroid veteran and big brave boy, I finally return to the game, only to realize OH, this was just THE SCARIEST ONE ANYWAY 💀

Beam cannon progress: I ran out of dark teal filament! 🥲 (It’s CC3D Sage Green Silk PLA, btw, beautiful color. Same stuff I used for @sam-makes-toys.bsky.social’s Lugnut a couple years back!)

Personal project this week: Samus Aran’s beam cannon from Metroid Prime. At 1:2 scale it’ll theoretically be able to change between all 4 beam shapes by pushing buttons, plus an opening missile nozzle. Unfortunately it’s not hollow, but meh. I also want to design a display stand when I’m done!
