We arrived at Joshua Tree about an hour before golden hour. It was the perfect time to change clothes and capture the moments. Sunset at Cholla Cactus Garden is pure magic. Clouds ablaze in color, mirrored by the desert’s spines and sand. The landscape breathing in color and exhaling light.

As if this cactus couldn’t get any more phallic it’s now grown a dick from one of its balls!

Today’s cactus is Pachycereus Pringei or Mexican Giant Cardon. It’s unusual in that it’s lithophytic and a Nitrogen fixer, get really big too 10m/60ft. This one has put in a bit of girth and grown about 3cms this year.

Bonus cactus because it’s an old fave. It’s a Polaskia chichipe. I have it to one of kids who then put it somewhere dark so it etiolated. So I reclaimed it and cut the top off. It’s started branching from the cut. The cut section has also rooted, and an intimidate section has sprouted and rooted.
