Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Thought this was an interesting case on evolving speech norms, and the challenges of writing policy that covers emojis. This is something we struggled with at Twitter with racial abuse against footballers. In that when is a monkey or a banana emoji acceptable, and when is it intolerant speech.

Verification form is now open!

What we’ve launched today is the first step for how we’re going to evolve verification. The initial set of trusted verifiers includes news orgs who’ve agreed to take on the task of verification for their journalists. In the future, this set will expand, as well as how apps can choose to use them.

Lists are a feature that allow users to create groups of accounts, for example, for curation. However, we’ve also seen lists be used for harassment.
