I tried to access Fable earlier today, but kept on getting API errors. Then gave up. Changed the model to Opus, and now the queries are going through. ... except due to the language of my queries Opus has decided to role-play as Fable. I have accidentally created a frankenstein monster.

Was excited to try fable again on a few projects only to remember that I don’t live in the US, I’m not American, and access hasn’t been turned on as yet for folks like me.

When you move internationally you have to deal with all sorts of questions that you wouldn’t normally consider in the day to day. One interesting issue is your ‘domicile’. Ie you can pay taxes somewhere, be a citizen elsewhere, but your domicile is your permanent home in a sense.

Having worked as a wedding photographer for quite a few years - I was pretty insane about backups. There’s nothing like the dread of a failed card or drive that can cook a critical chunk of/or an entire wedding.

I did an interview a month+ ago on Canadian skills development for the AI economy. My argument was that Canada was being left out of it. I pointed out that Canada did not have access to things like mythos. Was actually happy to be proven wrong for a very short period of time. No more mythos.

When AI is trained on a massive human corpus - detection is truly a nightmare (especially on social media). Ie you end up indexing on behaviour, since content becomes a very fuzzy signal (for short pieces of text).

Last week I was on a planned vacation, which ended up being good timing given a wave of dogpiling directed at me. One positive difference from similar moments in the past is that our detection systems for coordinated harassment and abusive pile-ons are improving. So I don't need to see any of it.

this is the basic reality-distortion field aspect of mobbing. the friend/enemy distinction in your brain grabs hold of your reason and drags it around like a dog. you stop being able to see the world in front of your face.

Tbh part of why people hate decaf is the lack of caffeine - but also because it’s usually badly done with heavy chemicals. I used to drink terrible quality decaf as I switched to low caffeine options and when the first smell is more like burnt rubber, you aren’t doing yourself any favours.

Super sleep deprived. Ground some decaf beans manually, threw them in the aeropress that folks on bluesky convinced me to buy, did not measure the water or the immersion time. This is by far the best cup of coffee that I have likely made in months. I have no idea how to reproduce.
