JW: Adrift (1993) - An older couple (Kate Jackson & Kenneth Welsh) on a Pacific sailing trip on their yacht, rescue a young couple (Bruce Greenwood & Kelly Rowan) found on a derelict boat. Is there something sinister afoot? Decent TV-movie thrills, with Rowan particularly effective.

JW: Family of Strangers (1993) - A woman (Melissa Gilbert) learns she's adopted and searches for her birth mother (Patty Duke). With Eric McCormick, and William Shatner as Gramps. I watched this for Shatner, but a mystery element made it a bit more bearable.

JW: Marshmallow (2025) - Summer-camp thriller/black comedy. Takes its time before throwing a wild curveball. The movie I'd like to see comes after this story, though.

JW: Survive the Night (1993) aka Night Hunt, aka Detour to Terror - Three white ladies (Stefanie Powers, Helen Shaver, & Kathleen Robertson) take a wrong turn and end up in the Bronx on Thanksgiving night, where they become the prey of psycho gang leader Iceman (Currie Graham). Absurd & ridiculous.

JW: Double Jeopardy (1992) - Made-for-cable erotic thriller with Bruce Boxleitner as a private school headmaster whose ex-girlfriend (Rachel Ward) shows up after 10 years away. When she kills an abusive boyfriend, it's up to Bruce's attorney wife (Sela Ward) to set her free. Tame courtroom drama.

JW: In the Line of Duty: Ambush in Waco (1993) - Tim Daly stars as David Koresh, doomsday cult leader. With Dan Lauria, Clu Gulager, and Lewis Smith as agents/cops. I enjoyed seeing a lot of actors in early roles, like Jeri Ryan, Neal McDonough, Marley Shelton, Cara Buono, and James Marsden.

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence. "These TV episodes were the most expensive ('$1 million each') produced up to that time." Any guess what book? Or what show was being discussed?

JW: In the Deep Woods (1992) - Children's book author Rosanna Arquette gets caught up in the Deep Woods Killer case. Could the murderer be someone she knows? Maybe creepy Anthony Perkins? Also with Will Patton, Harold Sylvester, Kimberly Beck, Amy Ryan, and Chris Rydell.

JW: In the Line of Duty: Street War (1992) - A gang war erupts over control of the crack trade, and 2 NYPD detectives (Ray Sharkey & Peter Boyle) and 2 patrol cops (Mario Van Peebles & Michael Boatmen) get involved. With Morris Chestnut and Courtney B. Vance.

JW: Impact (2009) - When a meteor strikes the moon, it's up to a Canadian physics professor (David James Elliott) and a NASA scientist (Natasha Henstridge) to stop the errant satellite from colliding with the Earth. With James Cromwell as Gramps. Very Canadian ABC-TV miniseries.

JW: A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story (1992) - Meredith Baxter stars as Betty Broderick, who quickly unravels when her successful lawyer husband (Stephen Collins) announces he wants a divorce. Also with Michelle Johnson, Kelli Williams, and Stephen Root. Good performance from Baxter.

JW: In the Line of Duty: Siege at Marion (1992) - Polygamous Mormon sect vs law enforcement in protracted siege. With Kyle Secor and Tess Harper as the heads of the sect, and Dennis Franz, Ed Begley Jr., Paul Le Mat, and William H. Macy as agents of various departments.

JW: Violation of Trust (1991) aka She Says She's Innocent - When a teenage girl (Charlotte Ross) is accused of murdering a classmate, her mother (Katey Sagal) tries to protect her at all costs. With Jameson Parker, Alan Rachins, and Robert Picardo.

JW: Carolina Skeletons (1991) - Lou Gossett Jr stars as an Army Green Beret colonel who returns to his small South Carolina hometown in 1964 to try and clear the name of his older brother, who was executed by the state 30 years earlier for killing 2 white girls. With Bruce Dern, and Melissa Leo.

JW: Guilty Until Proven Innocent (1991) aka Presumed Guilty - Martin Sheen stars as a father trying to get his unjustly convicted son ("introducing" Brendan Fraser) out of prison. Second Sheen's-kid-in-jail movie in a week for me.

JW: White Hot: The Mysterious Murder of Thelma Todd (1991) - Loni Anderson stars as the 1930s screen comedian and club owner whose death remains unsolved. With Scott Paulin as a D.A.'s office investigator, and Robert Davi as Lucky Luciano. Also featuring Paul Dooley, John O'Hurley, and Lois Smith.

I went out for a haircut, and came home with a Franken Berry action figure. Such is life.

JW: In the Line of Duty: A Cop for the Killing (1990) - An LAPD narcotics squad struggles after one of their number is killed. With James Farentino, Steven Weber, Harold Sylvester, Charles Haid, Dan Lauria, and Tony Plana. Second in the series of TV-movies based on real stories.

JW: Angel of Death (1990) - Escaped murderer Gregory Harrison stalks children's book illustrator Jane Seymour. With John de Lancie, Ray Walston, Chris Mulkey, and an uncredited Terence Knox as a sadistic prison guard. Typical woman-in-peril TV fare.

JW: Murder C.O.D. (1990) - William Devane uses hi-tech surveillance to target people for murder, then sends a bill to those who wanted the victims dead, despite them not actually requesting a hitman's services. Patrick Duffy (as a police captain) and Chelsea Field (as his nurse wife) get embroiled.

JW: Summer Dreams: The Story of the Beach Boys (1990) - TV-movie biopic focusing on Dennis Wilson (Bruce Greenwood). With Greg Kean as Brian Wilson, and Arlen Dean Snyder as their overbearing dad. The streaming copy I watched on Prime was the later video version with added nudity.
