#ArtAdventCalendar This is an older one, made about this time of year, when Autumn is transitioning into Winter. There are mushrooms, acorns, and those little cones/catkins that trees like alders drop. #TraditionalArt using ink, chalk pastel, and colored pencils on toned paper. About 4"x6" iirc.

I definitely won't remember to do an #ArtAdventCalendar every day, but here's a harlequin beetle (Acrocinus longimanus) drawing. It's a classic example of me spend far, far too long drawing details that are imperceptible in the final image.

Got a big metal rack for paper, for free, from a local shop! It only holds up to letter size papers, but I have plans to use it for drying/storing smaller painted projects like smaller watercolor pieces, greeting cards, & lino cut prints. So I'm reorganizing my entire art room to make it work.

Just got back from the UK. It made me appreciate the dry Utah air. I was welcomed home to light switches and kitchen appliances giving me static electric shocks all day and I still appreciate not having everything be constantly damp. But sea level sure felt good to breathe.

Canva bought Serif (Affinity Suite graphics software) last year. It took a while, but it seems like it's finally being visibly mismanaged. They're shutting down the support forums and moved to a discord server with little/no moderation. They closed their store. You can't even buy their software.

I can focus a lot better now that the weather is cooler. What a difference that makes! Also, Procreate's new update brought some really fun brushes with it, so I'm excited to play around with those. Should have something to share by end of week. :)

This was really cool and I'm impatiently waiting for more. Every scene is a joy to watch-- The colors, the character designs, the world design. It's all so good. The voice acting is great too.

Playing the "Am I getting sick or is this just long covid playing its games?" the entire week. I'd been doing a bit better for a while, and now everything feels flu-like again. Is it related to the dozens of mosquito bites I've had? Who knows? The only certain thing is that something is off.

We have a smart rooftop weather station, and it makes me happy to watch the notifications for lightning detected getting closer as storms approach. If we're really lucky, we get rain with the storms. I've been in Utah a decade and warm storms are still weird to me. Very different from the PNW!

Recently, whenever I get bitten by mosquitoes, the bumps get bigger than previous attacks. They're huge. City is projecting an increase in mosquitoes over the next 2 weeks here. And West Nile virus has been confirmed in town. And they're out even at the peak temp during the day. I miss winter.
