I don't know their name, but this cat is standing on nearly a decade of my life. When I was nervously getting ready to announce The Isle of Cats, I had no idea what to expect. It's now in nearly 20 languages, with 6 expansions, promos, and spin-off games. I'm grateful every single day.

I was recently invited to a local school in Bristol to run a workshop on board game design for sixty 11-12 year olds and the experience was fantastic. It was amazing to see so many young students choosing game design as something they wanted to learn, and they were very engaged.

I promised James that when he eventually moved house, I would design an area for his board game collection. Well the time finally arrived and I am pretty happy with the end result!

Tonight's game for #Boardgame night is a new Kickstarter game called #Emberleaf. It's really fun, and easy to learn, but I feel it will take lots of time to master! The subtleties in recruiting critters to build your deck are extremely nuanced and take getting used to.

Next up we played Emberleaf from @cityofgameshq.bsky.social A game where you are playing cards to your board and eventually sliding them around to do a variety of skills.

Really enjoyed Emberleaf last night! It has the aesthetics of Root, the mechanical smoothness of Scythe (borrowing some mechanics there), the feel of Everdell and of course the DNA of Isle of Cats.

Tonight is Emberleaf: Deluxe from @cityofgameshq.bsky.social. I was excited about this game and the game has thus far delivered. The box was HEAVY with premium components and i love, love, love the aesthetic.

First play of Emberleaf from @cityofgameshq.bsky.social went great. Awesome teach from Jeremy, and the card dancing created a lot of combos to puzzle out during the game. Our playthrough should be up soon. Looking forward to another play.
