Triple Dickhead (Moby ๐ณ, ๐ธ Dale, PK ๐ธ) and erstwhile slacker. Bleeding internally.
One of the things that blows my mind about baseball hall of fame voting is what an achievement it is to simply be on the ballot. The number of first year candidates is tiny -- there's only 12 this year.

For
@msnownews.bsky.social
, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention. The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.

Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one listening to the end of Act IV of Carmen while watching the Bills' pregame (mute with close captions, I'm not insane) but I bet it's a pretty small club.

First, the Pentagon kicks out reporters who reject gag rules. Now, Stars and Stripes applicants are asked how theyโd advance Trumpโs agenda. Access bans. Loyalty tests. This is not โmerit hiring." Itโs systematic censorship of military journalism.

And your regular reminder that during our only actual civil war (to date), we held elections -- that included significant remote balloting for US troops that was submitted in part via the US mail. 1864 peeps

So this is another periodic reminder on the origin of death squads. Death squads in history have not typically been made up of randos who decided to go on super-villain like missions. They most frequently are tabbed from existing military and law enforcement units, as an extracurricular activity.

Don't be a useful idiot for the regime. Calls for escalation into violence will end very, very badly for the Republic and for thousands -- perhaps millions -- of people. Resist the way Gandhi, Dr. King, and the color-flag revolutions have. Make our numbers so large that they can't kill us all.

So, a few brief (?) personal remarks about Scott Adams. I corresponded with him quite a bit in the 80s and early 90s, particularly after he was the first (AFAIK) strip to put an email address (an AOL one) into the published comic (at a time when Internet access was uncommon).

Do they really believe the shooter's cell phone video corroborates a story of a crazed killer attempting to run down officers? She says "I'm not mad at you" with a smile, and he shoots her and calls her vile names. I really don't see how this is in any way exonerating.

One of my wish list items for BlueSky is either some kind of automated method, or at least a social convention, for marking posts with links to paywalled sites. As much as I'd love to support every content-maker out there, I can't, and it's a big clickbaity waste of time to wade through such stuff.

Arguably we're already in a form of civil war -- a civil civil war, if you will, fought simultaneously with the coercion of the law and the blatant violation of it with respect to government. But even without bullets flying, people are being killed and injured. The GOP is a death cult.

Serious question: how much of Venezuela is actually controlled by US Forces? How much *can* be run? It's a deeply divided society but all the current wheels are run by Maduro loyalists. I doubt seriously the regime change plan is more than "let's get our puppet in there".

Time for my periodic public service announcement about the Second Amendment. The plain text of the Second amendment starts with a qualifier: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Let's call it like it is: the US Constitution is fundamentally broken if no checks and balances have prevented all of this. At a minimum SCOTUS reform has to be a top priority. But we're going to need more than three amendments to fix this, ala the post civil war and progressive eras of reform.

I rewatched the condensed version of Game 7 of the World Series again today, and it's amazing how gut-grippingly tense it is to watch again, even knowing the outcome. The game was not the crispest in major league history, but it had a little something of everything. Sheesh. I may never get over it.

How does the famously fact-checked New Yorker allow nonsense like this? "Millennials and Gen Z-ers also account for nearly 40% and 30%, respectively, of the countryโs student-loan borrowers." Who are these groups, and how could this distinction possibly be relevant to anything? /1

Look forward to this administration canceling a LOT of things for 'national security risks' without rational explanations. I've been at sea around wind farms. They don't do anything to interfere with radar, other than giving a very clear profile that actually helps delineate positions.

One of the rather disconcerting features of Google Maps Street View is the layers of different vintages of imaging -- I was just hunting up for an office building where I have an appointment, and on street view it disappeared as I arrow'd my way up the street to be replaced by a defunct gas station.

I feel like this hasn't really been getting enough attention, speaking of affordability. Despite record solar installations (for now), energy prices are going to go up 25% or more in 2026. Why? Crypto mining and AI data centers. Two pointless wastes of energy that produce nothing of value.

I realize Project 2028 is supposed to be about all the positive things we can do for the country, but seriously, we need a Detr*mpification Plan as well. Purging the government of the pernicious hangers-on, restoring administrative order, getting back to a functioning government is job one.
