In San Francisco I commented to friends that the contrast between the amount of money spent on AI and the homelessness we were seeing made me sick. But even excluding AI, the amount Meta wasted on this trash could have accommodated every unhoused person we saw for life, with money to spare.

Something I have noticed while talking with people at GDC: A lot of people are worried about the state of the industry and its conditions, but a lot of them will not move. We are running out of time. We ARE out of time. Is this what scares you?

you dont have to be annoying about it but you really gotta hammer in your basic messaging how class struggle works and make educating your supporters a priority because if you don't your base is gonna see the epstein files and run off a fucking cliff into conspiracy theory nonsense

epstein files are an extreme case but they do demonstrate why any viable left wing opposition to the status quo must be open about its support of marxism, and make communicating basic marxist theory a core part of its messaging. you cant just skip to the end unfortunately

I don't normally comment on stuff like this because I've given up on understanding this business, but I'd have to think the remasters Bluepoint was known for are maybe the closest thing we had left to a predictable business model?? I get that everything is volatile but that part feels pretty safe???

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland. And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.

The US campaign to starve Cuba of fuel should be understood as genocidal. They are targeting a whole nation, deliberately destroying conditions necessary for life, in flagrant violation of international law. Pure barbarism, there is no other way to describe it.
