Anthony is a lot nicer than me. If you cite white supremacist segregationists in support of your position, that should be absolutely disqualifying in terms of both this specific debate and any other. This is a moral abomination.

The obsessive focus on meta-narratives is incredibly disingenuous. The Atlantic can write directly about The Thing, but obviously their primary interest is in interpersonal beefs with people they find annoying. At least Norman Mailer would actually punch people instead of this tedious shit.

A condition for hiring any CEO should be deleting their social media presence and that should probably go for most fiduciaries. Like I wouldnāt hire a heroin addict to manage my money and I wouldnāt hire an X addict either.

I think itās extremely unlikely that any of the new crop of ICE/CBP officers would pass the psych evals for any big city police force. They are a million times worse than even the worst cop you know.

There should have been an effort to expel the ~140 reps who still voted against certifying the 2020 election results even after the failed coup under the 14th Amendment's insurrection clause. Dem. leadership's failure to treat the GOP as the domestic enemy that it is has doomed us for decades.

I took the subway to work on Friday and the fare was $2.90 (mta error?). Worked from home yesterday so today is my first $3.00 ride. It was $2.25 when I moved here in 2012. Not a complaint. just feel old.

IMO fewer would leave if you could go private and hide under the covers for a while. The one time I had a post blowup on Twitter I got so many hateful replies and quotes I had to just go private for a few days. The nuclear block is great but you have to read each hateful message to know who to block

this is me saying this: the bare minimum acceptable response from Dems in 2026 will involve rounding up and punishing every single human in the chain of command who performed these actions to the fullest extent to which it is possible and it frustrates me that we DON'T have effective means of demand

Lindsay's greatest triumph, by the way, was that NYC did not burn in 1968. He had a lot of faults, but being connected to what was going on in the city at that moment of potential catastrophe is too unrecognized success.

The Home Rule Law has no removal provisions for CRC members; no for cause protections or anything. So not sure why this wouldnāt be like any other appointment. The general rule is absent a contrary provision of law, the power to remove is incident to the power to appoint. Mamdani - just fire them!

You don't need to be an anarchist to think that ICE should be abolished You can be a good governance liberal who thinks that the agency has demonstrated an institutional disrespect for the Constitution, and therefore advocate for unwinding the agency and rolling its functions into a revived INS.
