I respect these shows for going into these kinds of cautionary tales. People without poor mental health need to see this stuff so they know what to avoid if their health gets bad. And people with poor mental health need to see this stuff to (hopefully) understand how destructive their actions are.

The people who complain about these kind of characters are the same people who go "DON'T PUT POLITICS IN MY MEDIA" they don't want to be reminded of reality or to be more specific, their own reality, their own faults. Because instead of learning and improving, they want to experience and forget.

On one hand I’d recommend it for its portrayal of mental illness, but on the other I will warn people the first episode is dark in the sense that you’ll see gross things that some mentally ill people can do, like addiction and it can get pretty rough.

IMO these are characters that represent the “the ugly side” of mental health issues. Addiction, isolation, self hatred and self sabotage are apart of depression and trauma. Somewhere out there within the real world someone’s living just like this.

Last night I watched episode 1 of Chainsmoker Cat because I was curious. I think a big reason why some people hate it is because not only is it showing a mentally ill female character, it’s showing the reality of depression and addiction. It’s not “pretty” it’s ugly and gross.

There are people who relate to Angel’s story. You may not and that’s fine but you don’t get to tell a survivor how to relate and cope. I find it funny how these antis will say “Hazbin doesn’t take abuse seriously” but when they reactors and other survivors relating to him, they’ll make fun of them.
