TV writers were right in 2023 and are being proven more right every day — there was a stable television model that made everyone lots of money and put out good shows. Then execs with no understanding of the industry confused the production model and the distribution model, and they blew it all up.

Draping and drafting. A lot of makers learn how to draft, not everyone learns how to drape. Here's the difference and why they are both useful in different ways.

These are equestrian gaiters. They are made in this case with leather or fake leather and that panel on the back next to the zipper is an elastic material use to keep the fit nice. That is how i use the Big Z fabric. Regular fur for the bulk of it, panel in the back for fit.

Oh, thank god, I got my car back. The auto shop really went above and beyond correcting their mistake with the water pump. Most of the hangups had to do with them sourcing parts, which you know, fair enough. Seems to be running better than it has in years.

Also yes the wide 3/8 shear length blade that dosnt need a guide to max out length removed came in. Its friggin great. I forsee using it a lot. I cant say Id ditch clipper guides entirely but THIS is a ton better for large-panel work.

I think i'm going to discontinue making feet after this season. I like making heads and masks. I like making gloves. I like making tails. I really do not have any interest in continuing to make feet.

Part of the deep dive on clippers, and blades has been figuring out what the hell the number letter combo labeling actually means. This is probably the most clear cut chart i've seen so far for the wide blades. Evidently what I need are the 3f thru 5f blades for the length control im looking for.

Sharing down almost a full yard of big z 4wy stretch fur. Pulled taunt on a wood board with a combination of clips and staples. Set vertical to make the fibers drop out of the way as I work. Pile started at about one inch and ended at around half inch.

So yes, the horse clippers work, and these are kind of shitty ones. This is the big z stretch fur. There's a pretty big textural difference between the steeply shaved stuff and the unshaved stuff, but it's a start. Generally i'm able to do the most with fur, that's a half inch or less long 1/2

Lil throwback to how that personal unicorn of mine was furred. When you are useing a stretch fur (and frankly, a lot of even regular furs WILL allow for this as many have just enough give to them) - That whole face was ONE piece.

A nice jaw demo and vanity shots in these trying times. Because the face only has a layer of Mochi on it, It squishes more than my typical furred faces. I didn't realize it would do that ahead of time and i'm super into it. Looks more alive.

The setup I use to work on feet.

Any makers out there use horse clippers or sheep clippers for large areas of trimming? There are times when I just really need to shave evenly a flat piece of fabric and the little clippers take forever, so it stands to reason a much wider blade would make more sense.
