not really too swayed on Ng's (and others') view that Adorno is a critical naturalist of some kind, but also probably not smart enough on Adorno to properly dispute it

I am I must say fascinated by the crits of R*ckhill's shtick that take the "the university is in danger, we can't criticize it now!!" angle, which, imo, is just a horrible attitude to have at any and all times about the university

contemporary prominent FFS theorists really are like "see, we're doing internal criticism! we said that's what we're doing, so that has to be what we're doing!" as if saying you're doing something conceptually is enough to be actually doing that thing

very funny to me that the "crisis" in critical theory you sometimes see as being the impetus for the communicative turn or whatever is just "Adorno said that philosophy couldn't give us a guidebook for radical action ahh!!!" lmao

What's gutting about this is that Juniper seems to have had a family who supported and loved her, she was in a community that has been explicitly welcoming to trans people, and a man still murdered her. She was living the life so many trans people can only dream of, and it simply didn't matter.

It's clear Boston gets more surplus value here. But when you go to the Franklin Park Zoo, all you see are people wearing Little Joe shirts. And that matters. You're talking about the face of the zoo here. The whole reason you buy a zoo is to have a primate like Little Joe representing your city.

there is no winning an argument with libs/left-libs, really, but you're certainly not gonna win it if you concede their little "structural change is nice but short-term improvements in governance which can be easily dismantled by future administrations should be our real goal" premise

the rejection of metaphysics is not necessarily problematic as a rejection of any specifically metaphysical claim so much as it is an issue insofar as it excludes metaphysical thinking tout court as legitimate and thus precludes an element of totality from itself. anyways

a lot of people think that Marx didn't meaningfully confront the fact/value aporia so much as he tried to find a capacious enough value to account for epochal historical changes in interrelated social facts, which may very well be true, but if true, the worse for us
