I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members. At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion. The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion. Read that back. When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Wow, great example of how scarcity is manufactured under systems that are intentionally based on inequity. Makes me think: if these inefficiencies are required to maintain systemic inequality, imagine how systemic justice & equity could instead allow real efficiency & abundance to flourish for all.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has declared a state of emergency to fund SNAP. Landry asked the state legislature to authorize $150 million of state money to subsidize food stamps for children, the elderly, and disabled people for the next month. The measure is expected to pass.
