I've already been hearing faculty discussion adapting to this policy by basically writing stripped down syllabi that include *only* the required boilerplate and nothing else, with things like course themes, reading schedules and such kept in separate documents to avoid the university owning them.

For decades we have competed with UNC for talented PhD students interested in studying European politics. Sometimes they won, despite their significantly lower stipends, in part because of their great Europe center. So much for that.

Please consider signing the petition. The things that have happened in my ‘home’ society since 2020 are pretty upsetting, and I am glad to see so many voices raised now. I knew I wasn’t alone in being marginalised, but it’s still hard to countenance how many of us were.

I signed. Love this org, have put a lot into it—want it to remain a scholarly space shaped by and responsive to its members. As the corporatized academy collapses, the role of such spaces for scholars in a whole host of careers to *do scholarship* and maintain community is more crucial than ever.
