2 things can be true: 1. Syrians are overjoyed & rightly celebrating the fall of a half-century-long brutal, psychotic dictatorship, & hoping to see their homes again. 2. It is not safe or responsible for European countries of sanctuary to talk now of repatration or ending asylum for Syrians.

Not even a full day after the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, leading politicians of the Christian Democrats in Germany are already pushing for the return of Syrian refugees. This is not only politically short-sighted but also disrespectful and just shamefully populist.
