as you point out, cannot be solved by classical economics or liberalism. So, what you said, but with less intention and more tragic irony.

Wow, wow, wow. What a book. As a working class traveller in the bourgeois world of climate politics I have never felt so seen, nor my frustrations and anger affirmed. Bravo. I can only read a few pages at a time then have to walk away to digest what I have just read.

"Successfully transitioning to decarbonized energy systems requires broad public engagement, yet citizens often remain disconnected from transition goals." You don't say? Might that be because 'transitioning to decarbonized energy systems' is a soulless sterile cold vision of our future?

Psst - hey. Quick heads up, net zero is not an escape from the capitalist nightmare, it actually blocks off our last escape route, namely rebuilding a world that allows us to somehow limit and survive climate change. Net zero is a means to build the saame cage, this time using electricity.

The repoliticised subject of the 2020s - passionately engaged, perpetually outraged, yet incapable of transformation - isn’t evidence that post-politics is over. It’s evidence that post-politics continues under new subjective conditions. My review of Anton Jäger’s Hyperpolitics is now out in EJST.

See, this is where my current support for the Green Party wavers. This sucks. What "threats" are we facing? Energy shortages, food insecurity, skyrocketing prices - all things caused by our own militarism. The idea that we "need to prepare to defend Europe" is just Yellow Peril shit.

Does freeing ourselves of dependence on fossil fuels make it easier for us to bomb the middle east, because they won't have that stranglehold over the west? Or do heat pumps also bring about a geopolitical change and an end to western imperialism?

I guess everyone here knows that power and control (I think progressives call it 'governance') is operated through various soft measures - cultural, political and economic. And you can either side with that, work within it (🤑 and ease) or oppose it. The latter (me) = poverty, struggle and anxiety.

I left the climate movement to become a climate fantasist. Too many on the left (lets be honest, its the centre, not left) are 'realists', promoting a technocratic 'we just need to remove the emissions and learn to love capitalism' schtick, apparently in the name of 'pragmatism'.
