Game Pass wasn't the bad idea. The bad idea was trying to shift Xbox into a subscription-based service group with a massive sub count to align with things like Office 365 in the first place. If anything was going to be able to meet that goal, it was Game Pass. The goal itself was unrealistic.

When I signed the Stop Killing Games petition, if by accident, live service games were rendered illegal (no chance, but I assume politics don't know shit), I'll be frank: It would have been the best thing to happen to gaming.

The problem with live service games is that the game part in them can just suck even more if you remove the live service out of them. It has been a serious downgrade in gaming in general, and people just accepted that shit.
