This, ultimately is the point, however it is dressed up by various political commentators, even some of the "good" ones.

FWIW, it seems to me that Starmer's main failing is to expect a level of professionalism among his staff that he experienced as DPP. He doesn't have this, clearly, and is still trying to adapt. Few are saying he isn't making mistakes, but the existentialism surrounding those mistakes is profound.

A lot of people spent days going "OMG OMG OMG popcorn at the ready SiR kEiTh obvs lying; Olly Robbins has the receipts". Now they're like "too clever to get caught, they did it with VIBEZ." From "Starmer is really bad at politics" straight to "Starmer is Machiavelli reincarnated" - like every week.

I hope that the likes of @iandunt.bsky.social who was so vocal yesterday (to an extent understandably so) now review their original comments in light of this information. May still disagree with the ultimate decision, but at least with a better understanding of why it was taken.
