I fundamentally don’t understand how we’re constantly gaslit about austerity budgets, but massive investments like this are just rammed through again and again.

Instead of addressing the issue, the supervsr was rude to both me (a passenger) and my friend (the operator). We are in the middle of a bus shortage crisis (see: @bettertransitottawa.ca). We can't afford a bus breaking down because a supervsr decided a currently minor issue wasn't worth his time.

Things to note: - We were originally promised a mechanic, but no mechanic ever came to look at the bus The supervisor... - Didn't check anything on the bus - Was extremely short with my friend - Put up his hand and said, "I'm talking to HIM, not you." when I tried to tell him I could hear the leak

Shoutout to the @octranspo.com supervisor who basically told me to shut up when I was trying to update him on the status of the air leak on my friend's bus. If bus 4719 dies while in service, let it be known that there WAS an issue reported at ~02:30 on 2025-10-19 and nothing was done about it.

Across Ottawa, from fairs and markets to townhalls and meetings, I’ve been hearing the same thing: people are frustrated and want a new direction for our city. We need a city that works, with reliable transit, strong services, repaired roads and community centres.

This is also just terrible planning policy. If we defer the sidewalk implementation until a later date, it'll cost us MUCH more than if we did it as part of the integrated renewal. There's quite literally no good logical reasoning for deferring this work. Adding extra bureaucracy is not needed.

It's still loud South of the highway, but my comfort level is much greater. I don't feel like a car is going to jump the curb. The buildings are made to a human scale. Beautiful traffic calming here too. And take a look at how beautiful even the street lights are here. Four lanes is too much.

Underneath the highway looks like a dystopian city from the 80s. It's loud and I'm not welcome here. The highway acts as a massive barrier between the South and North halves of Bank Street. They honestly feel like different streets entirely rather than the same one.

I'm starting at Flora. Take a look at these quality vis stops. It's four lanes here, and the level of traffic just doesn't justify it. The Catherine intersection is 3 lanes, making it a highway beside the highway that isn't nice to cross. The noise level is also ridiculously high here.

I was really disappointed they aren't going to add any crosswalks at intersections without lights. It's a long walk to the intersection, and people aren't going to do it. I dislike the "stop for pedestrians" and the flashing lights as they're not very effective, but its a start. -Tri

The pedestrian improvements feel like an afterthought. Right now Bank Street is an obstacle course of poles, sandwich boards, business seating, and other fixtures. Painting crosswalks and moving scooters (maybe) is some weak sauce. #ottawalkers

I commend those who showed up. People are very interested in making Bank St much better for walking, cycling and transit. The best point was the person who asked why 16 parking spots can hold back better transportation for thousands of people. We can do better. ⭐️ #ottawa

I'm going to walk to the Bank consultation today. Apologies for spelling mistakes, I'm going to be using voice to text a lot First thing I want to note: it is a 6-minute drive and a 9-minute bike ride. Realistically, depending on parking, these trips would probably take the same amount of time.

A tally of the responses from people at the Bank St Q&A (Ty Derrick): 23 wanted more bus lanes. 2 supported as is. That's right, of the 25 questions and comments, 92% want more from the city. Name something in Ottawa that gets over 75% approval. (Besides shawarmas being our food mascot)

So just to be clear, all taxpayers will pay for traffic calming instead of fining the people that speed and leaving everyone else alone. We like this for a policy change? Are we so afraid of going after the actual rule breakers that we would rather put it on the back of everybody?

Bank Street bus lanes seems like a very good idea. Wish we could implement on an urgent pilot basis - perhaps 6-12 months - given the reliability issues right now. The consultation/engagement process takes too long.

Apparently, OC Transpo has a policy of pulling buses off frequent routes to fill gaps in less frequent routes when buses aren't available. Which at first glance makes sense - you don't want a 30-min route to become 60-min - but the 6 and 7 are two of the busiest routes in the city as it is.

As someone who commutes up and down Bank every day and takes either the 6 or the 7, this is absolutely disgraceful on the part of OC Transpo. This is one of the busiest routes in the city. I'm currently on a 6 going south on Bank at Somerset, started at Rideau, and it's standing room only.

People die waiting for treatment spots to open up or because they can't afford it - and these are people going voluntarily. We need to fund the system properly first, THEN we can talk about other options, though frankly I think readily available treatment will solve a lot of issues.
