I work with several amazing climate researchers including @drshepherd2013.bsky.social and @docaharper.bsky.social along with others not on Bluesky. In addition to the loss to climate research, I've been struck by the stories of those whose careers were nurtured at NCAR. This would be a tough loss.

I've had talked with folks who are frustrated that so many resources are given to studying climate and not enough go to activism and adaptation efforts. I get it. But they wouldn't be coming for centers like NCAR if they didn't pose a threat. Climate science alone isn't enough, but it is necessary.
