I'd be really curious to see how many people surveyed have ever lived or even spent a good amount of time in a walkable or at least multimodal community. One of the big issues here is imagination. It's hard to weigh the options without a real frame of reference.

As a Baltimorean, on an annual basis, the nicest out-of-town visitors are hands-down the people who come for Deathfest, a premier metal festival. Super kind, always gracious about the city, and, if several bartenders are to be believed, exceptional tippers. Just very great people to get to know.

Alright all you street portraitists, nighthawks, and long exposeurs... I have 48 hours in NYC coming up in a couple of weeks. Recommend your favorite borough (or two) for wandering and photographing.

Strange that some Substack activist groups seem to be relying on bought likes & coordinated restacks to astroturf their content. Organic growth apparently not being their strong suit. Nearly all of these accounts in the “like” list subscribe to the same 64 newsletters, & have the same user bio.

I have fielded so many phone calls and emails about this Washington County NDA and I am happy to squash it. I’m also hoping this stops the baseless, tasteless accusations and insults certain members of this movement have made against me for keeping a skeptical mind. Now back to work.
