40 days furloughed, a month of paychecks missed, for what? What did anyone of us—and I mean any American—get?

I am middle Gen-X. For years I thought that we were being robbed of political offices because both parties ran Boomer geriatrics instead, and chaffed at Millenials leapfrogging us. But seeing our voting patterns the last couple of cycles, I’m of the opinion we should never hold public office.

I am still furloughed, morale all year has been terrible. This has been a time real test of federal civil servants. Tonight was a balm. A sign of hope. The new Hatch Act guidance, meant to foster red MAGA hats at work, says we can post pro-party things about “elected officials.”

Odd that I posted this the day before Cheney’s death was announced, an architect of the awful Bush years, and before the cracks in Trump’s power base would be widened by the election results. Hold fast. Speak out. Fight back. The outcomes, as we see, can be good.

For some bizarre reason—it’s because I live in Baltimore —I thought tonight was the primary in NYC and the winner was essentially going to be mayor as a result of the general, not realizing this was the general. I’m even happier now.
