As someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.

Theoretically, a Canadian government that wanted to shield people from the crisis could place serious price controls on groceries, rent, transportation and energy. It could commit to real public health programs in the face of viral chaos down south. It could re-invest in community programs/services.

I’d be very interested to see the governments evidence to support these sweeping benefits AI is going to bring. If journalists have the opportunity, I’d love to see this question put to the PM. The NDP’s AI platform is going to be extremely important in the upcoming leadership race.
