I don't think this is true. Both styles of damage have an important place in game design, especially platformer game design! Contact damage allows enemies to threaten you with just their movement patterns. Imagine if Medusa Heads didn't have contact damage. This is a big part of classic platformers

It almost feels like we're at a point where playing simon says is 'real difficulty', and somehow learning, juggling, and managing the emergent behaviors of overlapping enemy types is "artificial". 🙃

I don't get why gliding in Silksong requires a second button press, like I'm pretty sure no other game in the history of earth implements gliding like that. I hope you didn't brush against a wall while gliding because you'll transition from gliding -> wall cling -> fast fall in less than a second.

I think the use of contact damage and restrained player hitboxes is leveraged well in Silksong, to the point that it has a sense of spacing and precision you rarely see in modern games. But also WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT DIVE WHIFFED!?!? AND NOW I'M EATING SHIT FOR THATAREYOUFUCKINGKIDDINGM-

I wish I could just disable the dash attacks in Silksong. Sprinting is a necessity if you want to get some hits in the more dangerous enemies, but it also leads to a bunch of accidental dash attacks. I'm coming around to the beast crest but the lunge gets you killed 99.9% of the time.

I'm not having any issues with Silksong's difficulty so far but I do pine for the simpler times in early HK when attacks universally did one pip of damage. I don't mind starting with less health to compensate.

The Robot Revolution - A bit of a dud, Belinda gets a decent enough entrance as a companion that's more critical of the Doctor, but this felt more like an off brand DW episode. Didn't care for the twist at the end, jabs at incels and RW grifters are pretty stale for me regardless of their validity.

Double checking, triple checking and quadruple checking my rota to confirm I've got 3 days off in a row. Would not be surprised if that falls through.

There's something about Hollow Knight/Silksong's benches that just slides of my brain and causes me to forget to swap out loadouts and try new charms.

I really don't see the point of shell shards in Silksong. You have so little to spend them on and you don't drop them on death, so there's never a situation where you can't afford to repair your tools because you hit the cap an hour into the game.

Maybe the real Silksong was the massive fucking Dragonfly trapped in my house along the way.

Started Silksong and I'm liking the dive as an alternative to HK's pogo spam since you have to think more about your positioning before and after. But using it for actual platforming is torture.
