Good advice to keep in mind, on 3 dimensions, when setting assessments: to move beyond “simple prohibitions or permissions and begin to address three critical dimensions: the feasibility of enforcement, the preservation of authentic learning, and the emotional wellbeing of teachers and students”.

what I mean is, the generalised assumption of impact lumps those students who I see every day being very insightful and wary and critical in a range of engagements with AI belying generalised assumptions about the wider group

when I hear academics talk about how AI is crushing criticality etc it makes me think that this doesn't factor for the willing engagement with scholarship, study for its own sake, human drive for learning and critical engagement. 1/2

One of the weirder scholarly practices regarding generative AI that seems to have been normalized is citing chatbots. I say normalized because many univs & scholarly associations recommend it as an element of proper scholarship. But it doesn't make sense when you consider what a citation means. 1/
