An observation, since I started the lab, I have #reviewed and sat through around #12 #study #sections. One thing I have noticed is that on average #ESI & #NewPIs grants easy/better to read as they give better details on the approach, outcomes, and alternatives.

#we will #get #out of this #mess….when we do, remember what went through, how you dealt with things. #Opportunists and #capitalists raise again…good for them. Millions of others need help, a great time to be a leader and bring along folks in #real #need.

#Study #section may not happen for many more wks. I am happy that I did read some #great #grants, well in #advance submitted initial #critiques and #scores... #good #luck to all.

But even these don’t arise in a true vacuum. Instead they build upon discoveries, the true value of which often remain unrecognized for years even decades. It’s the scientific ecosystem that enables the forward momentum of science. It can be excruciatingly slow and frustrating but is critical. 2/
