I listen to and read many strong sources. None says things more important than does @davidfrum.bsky.social. Erudite and humane, Frum asks questions but never lectures. And his rare advice, like “Don’t despair, don’t give up” is powerful because it is wisdom born of painful experience.

Some complain today that the kidnapped Israelis are called “hostages” while the Palestinians freed in exchange are called “prisoners.” Seems unfair, they say. “Words matter.” Well, this explains why the words are different:

The first 5 minutes of Trump’s speech to the Knesset was grandiose, but uncharacteristically generous, praising others for the ceasefire agreement. All he had to do next was sit down and bask in the glow. But he kept talking and became his usual unbearable self. The “off” button solved the problem.

The best network of bomb shelters ever built is below Gaza. The Gaza Govt never let their citizens use it. Instead, Hamas left Palestinian civilians (women and children, mainly) on the surface as scarecrows and human shields. Why don’t you blame Hamas for at least some of their people’s suffering?

All parties report that Hamas agrees to the peace deal and will return the living hostages on Saturday. This raises 2 questions: 1. can Hamas find a way to screw this up by Friday & blame it on Israel? 2. can "pro-Palestinian" people call peace "a genocide"? (Answer to both: of course they can)

The only people who do NOT want the Palestinians to accept the peace deal are their “supporters” in other countries.
