At 20,000 feet, the plane rattled, as a grinning gremlin crawled from the instrument panel. He tightened one bolt and loosened another, tapping a discordant tune on the hull.
The engine smoothed to a hum. It winked, vanished, leaving the pilot terrified enough to make it home.
