First time I've ever gotten the salt-on-wet watercolor technique to work. Indanthron blue wash with off-white stars created by dropping coarse kosher salt on the wet (but not pooling) painted surface. #watercolor

Sometimes it's the little wins that mean the most.

Experiments with how watercolor reacts to water drops and alcohol drops applied before, or after paint. It appears that alcohol draws pigment in as it soaks into paper, while water creates boundaries of flow defined by the degree of wetness. #watercolor #dailypainting #paintexperiments

Having a lot of trouble with my paintings this past week, so I'm going back to basic brush stroke practice. Some leaves and stems here.

A sightly underwhelming watercolor by me of yellow laburnum blossoms. The flowers are OK, but I'm very disappointed in my leaves. Not very realistic—that's OK—but the cranky trefoil leaves annoy me. Why can I only paint autumn leaves?
