Some rotting Peltigera (hymenina) at Horsey Gap had this fungus on it, which I make to be Nectriopsis lecanodes, another species with a northern UK bias to its records.

Micrograph of a rhizoid gall caused by a chytrid on Bryum moss. The infected cell contains several zoosporangia, some of which have thread-like exit tubes that release flagellated spores. Chytrids are interesting fungi that mostly lack hyphae and have mobile spores.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of looking around Windsor Great Park with the amazing Ted Green. Ancient trees & very rich in fungi and invertebrates. A fascinating visit of one of our most important SACs. Appropriately (?) we had mushroom pizza in the Savill Garden restaurant for lunch.

Cuphophyllus russocoriaceus - Cedarwood Waxcap. The ones I've found before didn't have a very strong smell, but this one was intensely perfumed #FungiFriends

Waxcap 16 - Citrine Waxcap (Hygrocybe citrinovirens). Generally an early fruiting species. The conical cap and the usually fibrous stipe are a yellowish green. Gills are pale white. Quite a large dry species, occasionally with hints of orange.

Another of the topnotch Waxcaps is the Blushing Waxcap (Neohygrocybe ovina). This year it is fruiting in a smaller size than I normally get here, but that earthy mix of browns and greys and the bright red colour that quickly results from bruising are distinctive.
